It had been years since I last photographed Johnny Lopez, but the connection goes back nearly two decades.

About 18 years ago, Johnny invited me into his garage to hear a new project he was experimenting with. That project was Blessed Be Man, a one-person band built on raw sound, instinct, and persistence. What began in a small garage has continued to evolve.

This session marked a new chapter. I had the opportunity to document Blessed Be Man as a full band, recorded live at Strange Daze Recording Studio.

The studio provided a warm, intimate setup that allowed the music to breathe. A space designed not just for recording, but for presence. An environment where artists and listeners alike can feel connected to the sound being created.

This event was part of a larger community gathering, celebrating the music and artists connected to Tuesday’s Rehearsal. A reminder of how long relationships, shared spaces, and creative trust continue to shape the work.

Being able to document this moment while I was back home was grounding and restorative—a quiet reset before stepping into the new year.
